8/25/2023 0 Comments Luminar 4 vs luminar neoI think I did mention I am using Lightroom and PhotoLab 5 now, both I have no performance problems with.ītw, the slowness with no GPU acceleration in Luminar AI is an issue Skylum recognizes publicly in the forums. As for me, I chose Photoshop since I like wide possibilities. I then had to launch Task Manager and killed it. A few tunings after applying a template put it to a halt. It did get faster at first start, however as I added images it got slower again. Skylum support told me to delete the catalog and let AI recreate it. I do have a catalog with a hundred images or so. I use all SSD, both internal and external, which I think has no relationships with slow performance with AI. My PCs are stock DELL so I am guessing maybe I have few problems since developers - unless they are nuts or in China- almost certainly test on DELL (and maybe HP machines). Having the program AND the data use an SSD did the trick. On my older machine, (6th gen I7, 16GB, and an added SSD) Luminar AI performance was slower, but acceptible. I got a new PC with SSDs, 64 GB, and an 11th gen I7 just to use Topaz AI products (SharpenAI, DenoiseAI, EnhanceAI) and to speed up everything else. However, LuminarAI is very fast on my machine which is fairly recent. Luminar 4 requires much less processing power than AI. This table shows overlap between versions:Īlso note that MANY features in the final release are NOT in Early Access: Skylum has never stolen my money and has always delivered every pre-order product - for better or worse.Īlso, it is inconsistent to say they "lose interest in the current version of the product" and at the same time argue they are selling an "enhanced, extended version of the current and previous versions." ![]() I am old enough to remember something called Kickstater which used a similar model.
